This workshop will focus on learning the basic skills used in Unarmed Stage Combat.
These skills include safety measures, punches, slaps, falls, throws, and taking a hit. You will establish a foundation of these basic skills that can be built upon in the future, specifically learning the terminology of techniques to eventually learn full fight choreography sequences!
Adi Fawk is an LA native who has studied theatre for a majority of their life. Adi has worked as an actor, makeup artist, costumer, and stage manager, before getting a degree in Directing from the University of California San Diego and training to be a fight choreographer with the SAFD. They have been fighting on stage for over 10 years and have been choreographing and teaching for the last five. Recent Fight Choreography Credits Include: Newsies (2024), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2024), Romeo and Juliet (2024), The Play That Goes Wrong (HS Edition) (2023), Lord of the Flies (2023), and Spring Awakening (2023).
Ben Little is an actor and performer originally from San Diego County, and graduated from UC San Diego after studying acting in the Theatre and Dance program there. He grew up doing theatre around San Diego County and loved working with Moonlight and Moonlight Youth Theatre back in the day. Ben has been training with various instructors within the SAFD for the past 4 years and has grown to love the art of stage combat and what it can lend to an actor. Ben is excited to be assisting Adi in this Introduction to Stage Combat class and show the ways in which this material can help you, onstage and off!
